Summer break is getting near and kids are warming up themselves to enjoy the full swing of the summer. There are several outdoor activities you can indulge your kids in, and here is the list:
- Bird watching
One activity that captivates and educates the mind of kids easily is bird watching, the moment you introduce your kids to this activity they begin to appreciate nature. Bird watching is an activity that requires kids to look around for different species of birds, and they will gain acute knowledge about them. Also, whenever you plan on going out for bird watching with your kids, take along with you a pair of binoculars.
- Rockhounding
Kids love to dig their hands in the dirt for fun and it’s no surprise that rockhounding would be the perfect outdoor activity. Rockhounding AKA amateur geology is an outdoor activity that involves digging out and collecting rocks, semi-precious stones, fossils, and the like. You can see it as a trophy hunting activity. Rockhounding is not just an outdoor activity that brings excitement and fun, it is also another medium of educating your kids about geological activities.
- Water balloon baseball
This is another creative way of bringing fun and excitement outdoors, all you need to do here is to fill up balloons with water and put them in a plastic container. Take your kids out with some friends to the park and teach them how to swing with a baseball bat and hit those balloons filled with water.
- Hula hoop race
This activity involves two teams, racing from one end to another. The objective of the game is to reach the end of the line before the other team does. This game is best played when there are many kids around, if you have only one child, you can invite their friends around, and then divide them into two separate teams. This game should be played in an area with a lot of space most preferably in a recreational park.
- Water limbo
This activity can be done at the comfort of your home with your kids. If you have a water hose in your house, turn on the hose and let your kids dress up in their swimsuits. While holding the hose, each child will dance right under the water, after each round, the hose will be lowered by a few inches and each child is expected to dance under the water hose without touching the ground, this should be done in turns by each child.
- Backyard camping
Another method of making outdoor activities interesting for your kids is backyard camping. All you need to do is to set up a tent right at the back of your house, carry a few blankets along with some chairs, this way your kids will likely spend the rest of the day outdoors. To make it more interesting for them, make them read some books with snacks available and let them camp outside overnight.
