October 3, 2022

Hiking practically brings out the free spirit in everyone, there’s so much laughter and it’s enjoyed. Spending quality time outdoors alone, with kids or family is something everyone should try. There’s so much to do and boulders to climb, literally. However, one of the perks that make hiking enjoyable is having the right gear. Hiking gear involves everything you need on your journey into the woods, therefore you just need a few essentials.

Waterproof Hiking Backpack

During your trip, it is important to have everything you need in one place. This allows you to carry very few loads. With a backpack, you can fit your sleeping bags, extra clothes, food, water, and anything else. However, a waterproof hiking backpack is even better because it protects your belongings from getting wet. Either due to unstable weather conditions or if it falls into a pond, lake, or stream.

Furthermore, the amount of gear you intend to carry determines the size of the backpack. While the amount of gear you need depends on the number of days you intend to spend hiking. Some hiking trips include outdoor camping and could take some days outdoors.

Food and Water

No matter how short the trip is, taking food and water is very important. While you may be full of energy at the beginning, the energy will fizzle out eventually. Hence you need to replenish your strength with food and something to drink. Food includes snack bars and nuts that keep you busy while it energizes you.

Because of how unsafe drinking water outdoors is, you have to bring your water. Plus, you have to ensure you’re not dehydrated after the hike. Eventually, you’re bound to be thirsty after all that trekking.

Proper Hiking Apparel

Proper hiking apparel involves a hat, gloves, boots, and warm clothing. Quite obviously, there is a stark difference between the outdoor and indoor temperature. So, you have to do your best to cover up properly to prevent catching a cold. Wear clothing in layers so that you can easily take off each layer with a temperature rise.

During the nighttime, the temperature drops considerably low. Since the only protection aside from your clothes is your sleeping bag or perhaps a tent. You have to keep yourself warm through the night by wearing at least three layers of clothing. Additionally, lighting a fire close by will also help with the cold. Ideally, sleeping with gloves, socks and a hat should keep you perfectly warm.

Additional Hunting Gear

There’s no harm in hunting a few games during hiking, it is a perfect opportunity to catch some dinner. This is optional but should be considered to add to the list of exciting activities. A registered hunting rifle and some bow and arrows are enough. However, ensure you’re hunting within the areas that are not restricted by the government.

Conclusion

Finally, hiking without a proper hiking boot increases your chances of slipping and falling. To avoid making a mess of your outfit and backpack, wear a proper hiking boot. The firm grip and traction control will increase your stability during hiking. Furthermore, a pocket knife should be kept close in case of danger, after all the wild is not your normal habitat.
